Passenger assistance

Fellow passengers can often help with small things. For anything serious, go to official railway staff first.

SideBerth connects passengers with one another. Community responses are not guaranteed and do not replace official railway emergency assistance.

In an emergency

  • Tell the coach attendant, TTE or train guard immediately.
  • Use the official Indian Railways helpline and RailMadad service. Check the current numbers on the official Indian Railways or RailMadad website before you travel.
  • For a medical emergency, ask railway staff to arrange help at the next station.

What fellow passengers can help with

  • Finding your coach, the pantry car or the right platform exit.
  • Sharing tips about food, drinking water and stations along the route.
  • A helping hand with luggage or for elderly travellers.

Please don't

  • Ask for or offer prescription medicines in the chat.
  • Share medical history, phone numbers or berth details publicly.

Open your train and journey date to ask for help in the Assistance tab. Requests and responses are public; active requests expire after 24 hours.
